I have planned the 30 walks in this guide to combine some of the most beautiful scenery in Somerset with the opportunity to enjoy a meal and a drink in a good local pub.

The strolls vary in length between 2 and 41/2 miles and are suitable for everyone. You will find a wealth of places to explore. These include the church of St George in Bicknoller, famous for its intricately carved bench ends, Perry’s Cider Mills in the tiny village of Dowlish Wake, an historic pub in Croscombe haunted by monks, and one of the most spectacular views in Somerset from the grassy slopes of Lollover Hill , near Compton Dundon. Among other routes you will enjoy delightful rambles along the towpath of the recently restored Bridgwater and Taunton canal, and the rocky gorge of Burrington Combe in the Mendips and a walk in the footsteps of William and Dorothy Wordsworth near Nether Stowey.

I give information about where to park and interesting places to visit.
The sketch maps are numbered to match the text.
